The Issues

Darrell Jackson Will Continue to Work For…

  • The reduction of crime and gang violence in our neighborhoods
If we are to attract new opportunities to our communities, then our communities must be safe and appealing. As a Co-Sponsor of the Criminal Gang Prevention Act, I will continue to work for the reduction of crime and gang violence in our neighborhoods.
  • Better education for our children by improving and supporting our public schools
I am joining my fellow Democratic legislators to end the shameful standard of providing South Carolina students only a “minimally adequate” education – a standard that has limited our students’ potential for far too long. I know that the only way to a prosperous future is through an unwavering commitment to our children’s public schools.
  • Better paying jobs in our area
Job creation continues to be one of the greatest challenges we face. By fostering new technologies and investing in education, we can make ourselves competitive, keep the jobs we have, and attract new opportunities to our communities. South Carolinians need competitive jobs that pay more than minimum wage.
  • Lower property taxes for all residents
I intend to join my fellow legislators to lower property taxes for all South Carolina residents. Furthermore, I will fight against the continuing inequities in our state’s tax system.
  • Access to quality health care for all South Carolinians
This year we stand ready to fight to expand access to affordable health care to more South Carolina families. I am partnering with my fellow senators to offer innovative plans like extending the age for children to be covered by a parent’s insurance policy, and investing resources to expand successful health insurance programs like the South Carolina Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIPS).
